☁ Elisa Paula Casavilca attended cosmetology school the last two years of high school and received her cosmetology & barbering license a week after she received her high school diploma. She is particularly fond of straight razor cuts and her vintage, hand powered clippers. Her career plays an extremely large part of her life.
☁ Elisa worked several jobs from age sixteen on. They ranged from babysitter, to pizzeria girl, to dog walker, to receptionist and shampoo girl. All these jobs gave her the experience she needed to become a manager of Tagliato two years ago. Just recently, and unknown to the other employees or anyone outside the family, Elisa became a co-owner of the salon.
☁ Her birthday, May 27th, 1989, makes her 27 years old at the current point in time. She's the only child of Olivia Portofino & Joseph "Joe" Casavilca, high school sweethearts that are still together. Her parents, while committed to one another fully, aren't married and have never wanted to be married.
☁ Her Mother, Olivia, is from an Italian family in Astoria, Queens and her Father, Joe, hales from Long Island City. Following Olivia's wishes, the family resides in Astoria, down the street from her childhood home. The elder Portofinos have since passed on. Olivia is, not surprisingly, a hairdresser, and Joe recently retired from Con Edison, where he was an electrician despite his military and culinary past. It wasn't that Elle wanted to follow in Olivia's footsteps but it was the life she grew up around and seemed to excel in without much effort. It doesn't hurt that she enjoys barbering more than most things she's tried to do.
☁ Along with her best friend, ferrufino, she has a webshow (on an extended hiatus). The two cover a broad array of topics and perform short skits and tutorials. They've had the show for several months now and have special guests including friends and family and local celebrities appear on the show. The show started as a way for them to unload any frustrations or questions they had and has grown to be their baby. Currently: they stopped their webshow about two years ago. It's missed but it became too much for both of them to handle.
☁ Another passion of Elle's is makeup. Being that she received professional cosmetology training, she's been able to receive pro cards from many cosmetics brands and attend multiple trade shows. However, while she is passionate about it and will gladly do someone's makeup, she is in no way trying to make it a career but her collection takes up several bins in her apartment. Currently works on the bridal team for the salon.
☁ She considers her pets to be her babies. She's the proud mama to a large cat named Fur Pants (or Lady Fur Pantsington) and a ball python named Igor. They are children and she even celebrates their birthdays. In the past, she was a dog walker and despite loving her cat to death, she considers herself more of a dog person.
☁ Particularly fond of tattoos and piercings. Currently she has eleven tattoos (several on her left hand/wrist, one on her ribs, and one on her back) and two piercings (septum and left nipple). She fluctuates between wearing a barbell in her septum and choosing to go without, depending on her mood or plans for the day. Currently, she does not wear anything in her septum.
☁ Elle received her bachelors degree from The New School in 2012. While her loans are killing her to pay off, she doesn't regret this decision at all and is so happy to call herself a college graduate, even though it took her a little longer than typical to accomplish. While she is proud to hold a degree, she doesn't feel the need to display it and keeps it in it's leather bound cover in her closet.
☁ Because her career keeps her around plenty of straight razors, clippers, and shears, Elisa is very into collecting vintage items. She keeps some displayed in a vintage medicine cabinet in her shoe closet (also known as the den or office off her living room). In addition to the tools of her trade, she collects shoes and leather jackets. Her shoe closet is a large room lined with book shelves, a grommeted leather couch, pole, and vintage roll top desk.
